I always say to clients, the more effort you put into dog training, the more good behaviour you will see from your dog. I had a moment with my Standard Poodle Jack, when I noticed he had something in his mouth, now bare in mind we had only practiced the 'drop' cue a few times, with boring chews, and toys and we hadn't really moved on to anything of high value. The item he had in his mouth were dreaded chicken bones, my heart sank and I immediately thought, we haven't worked on him dropping something of such tasty value, I remained calm and I asked 'Jack, drop' and to my amazement he did! I was so proud of him, my heart melted for him, he got lots of praise, treats and a game as I know how much food means to him and I know how hard this would have been for him. In this moment, was when training had paid off, I didn't think he was ready to move on to high value items and I underestimated him.
This built not only my confidence, but Jack's as well. Even as a dog trainer, I still have many moments where my dogs make me so proud, and nothing builds a stronger bond than having these moments, they amaze me on a daily basis.
My dogs, make me proud every day, whether it is how they behave, make me laugh or just the simple 'happy' wag of their tail.
Dogs are great at being able to make us feel better, without even having to do or say anything, let's make your bond with your dog better than ever!
Dog training is fun, and let's get your dog behaving the way that makes you both happy.
